Putin says Russian economy adapts to foreign restrictions, rises

MOSCOW, Jan 30 (PRIME) -- Foreign restrictions are used to curb Russia’s development but the economy has adapted to them and started to grow, President Vladimir Putin said at a meeting with his election agents on Tuesday.

“There are also external restrictions that they are trying to use to hold down Russia’s development. We talk about it much now, maybe even too much. But the economy has adapted to it and has startedsustainable growth,” Putin said.

Putin said that Russia needs to support its exports potential in the conditions of rising open and covert limitations. “The principles of the World Trade Organization (WTO) often fail to work. And besides evident restrictions, there are hidden ones on certification of goods, phytosanitary rules… They are often impossible to break through.”

The central bank will reduce the key rate once the Russians get used to the new level of macroeconomic stability, the president said.
